Arrowtown locals Mick & Jane Burdon were looking to maximise the potential of their property by adding a secondary dwelling.

Working with our in-house architectural team, we developed a clever design solution-creating a lower-level garage for off-street parking, allowing our Pōhutukawa two-bedroom home to sit above, nestled naturally into the landscape.

While Arrowtown is renowned for its charm and stunning seasonal colour, the colder months bring significant challenges, including low temperatures and poor air quality caused by trapped smoke from fireplaces and diesel heating.

By choosing Arbol, the Burdon's have ensured this Pōhutukawa home delivers comfort year-round. With 50% more insulation, an airtight building envelope, high-performance window joinery and glazing, and a continuous filtered heat recovery ventilation system, the home stays warm in winter, cool in summer, and protected from outdoor pollution-while also reducing energy costs.

The exterior material palette pairs ColorCote Corrugate in Lichen with LMA reclaimed Spotted Gum in a Smokey Grey finish, grounding the home within its natural surroundings.

A large deck, beautifully designed stairway entrance, and landscaping are currently underway, all contributing to a seamless and considered final result.
